Loosing Arm Fat

Loosing under arm fat is not easy. It is quite common to get frustrated with various methods because this is one area of the body where fat is quite stubborn. Women particularly are more prone to excess weight on the arms than men and it is more difficult for them to get rid of it too. Flabby arms as we get older happen to both men and women as the muscle tone decreases. However, diligent efforts will pay off. The methods employed should be a combination of diet and exercise. 

Here are 3 exercises that firm the arms:

    1. Diamond pushups – Next to weight training, this is the best exercise. They are like regular push-ups, but with a small difference. Move into the push-up position and placing your palms flat on the floor create a diamond shape with the two thumbs and fore fingers touching each other. The diamond shape will be right under your middle chest. Now do a few sets of push-ups, gradually building them up. You can start with as few as you can and then gradually build them up. Repeat this exercise in sets of 3.  Doing this exercise four or five times a week will give you noticeable results.
    2. Weight-lifting - This is the most common and the best technique to get firm arms. You needn’t worry that you will develop bulging muscles. To really develop muscles you need to lift really heavy weights and very frequently. To just firm up your arms, you can start with the least amount that you can lift without straining, but which offers an adequate amount of resistance for you to feel the muscles in your arms being flexed and make a few repetitions like three sets of 8 repetitions each.  
    3. Backward lifts with dumbbells – Stand with legs apart and hold a dumbbell in each hand of a weight that you are comfortable enough to lift a few times without straining your muscles. Lift your backwards as far back as you can go, hold for half a minute and then release slowly.

Most important of all remember that you can’t really loose weight in one area of your body only. If you are overweight, you have to bring down body weight all over and your arms will likely get slimmer.  So when you work out at the gym choose exercise programs that use your entire body like the elliptical machine or a rowing machine.

Watch what you eat and stretch regularly when you have to sit in the same position for long to boost your circulation. It isn’t easy to loose underarm flab, but with diligence, it can definitely be toned up.
